Acer Volume Produces WiMAX-compatible Notebook PC; Certified for Nortel WiMAX Networks

Major international WiMAX solution provider Nortel recently announced that Taiwan-based PC maker Acer has joined the company's WiMAX device ecosystem program, according to a press release by Nortel. Furthermore, Acer's first WiMAX-compatible notebook PC Acer Aspire 5920 has been confirmed for interoperability with Nortel 4G WiMAX networks, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported. Acer has become the first PC maker worldwide capable of delivering volume shipment of WiMAX-compatible notebook PCs.

Meanwhile, Nortel also announced the addition of Japanese mobile phone maker Kyocera to the company's WiMAX ecosystem. Kyocera's WiMAX/CDMA dual-mode mobile phone prototype Kyocera TWXO1 has been certified for connection to Nortel WiMAX networks, too.
